Authentic Brands Group buys Champion for $1.2bn

Global brand development and marketing platform Authentic Brands Group (Authentic) expects its $1.2bn acquisition of the Champion Athleticwear brand to increase its system-wide annual retail sales to more than $32bn worldwide. Authentic's president and chief brand officer Nick Woodhouse highlighted that its successful efforts igniting Reebok's momentum in sports have created a playbook to achieve a similar feat with Champion.

JD Sports accelerates US expansion with $1.08bn Hibbett acquisition

UK sports retailer JD Sports Fashion Plc has acquired US athletic-fashion retailer Hibbett, Inc. for $1.08bn to speed up its US expansion, strengthen its Complementary Concepts division, and boost its brand partner relationships, while also increasing the size of its platform to support JD’s continued rollout in the US. With headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama, Hibbett owns 1,169 stores in 36 states across the US with its main retail facias being Hibbett and City Gear.

Frasers acquires Twin Sport to dominate EMEA sports market

Frasers Group has acquired all shares in Twin Sport Holding, an omnichannel sports retailer based in the Netherlands, to become the “number one” sporting goods retailer in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and confirmed plans for Dutch sports retailer Sprinter store takeover. Twin Sport has 17 strategically located stores across the Netherlands and a strong online presence. It recorded revenues of approximately €75m ($80m) in FY2023.

Sae-A Trading buys sportswear uniform maker Tegra

Korean garment manufacturer and supply chain solution provider, Sae-A Trading, has signed an agreement to acquire sportswear uniform manufacturer Tegra’s operations in Honduras, El Salvador and the US. Sae-A believes the acquisition will help it to further its growth trajectory and expand its geographic presence.
